Issue of Learners Licence/Renewal of Learners Licence.
a)
How to apply:-
Application for the
grant or renewal of Learners Licence shall be made in form 2 and shall be
accompanied by: -
i)
Medical certificate application form in form 1
ii)
Medical certificate form in form 1 A
iii)
Appropriate fee specified in Rule 32
b)
How to get
Learners Licence:-
On receipt of
application for Learners licence as mentioned above the Licensing authority
will scrutinize the application. If the
application is in order the applicant will be intimated to appear before the
Licensing authority on such date, place and time as the licensing authority may
fix for a test. The Licensing authority
will satisfy himself that the applicant possess adequate knowledge and
understanding of the following matters namely:-
i)
The traffic signs, traffic signals and the rules of the
road regulations made under section 118.
ii)
The duties of the driver when his vehicle is involved
in accident.
iii)
Precautions to be taken while crossing any un-manned
railway crossing.
iv)
The documents he should carry with him while driving a
motor vehicle.
If the applicant
has answered atleast 60% of the questions then the applicant can be consider
for the issue of Learners Licence.
c)
When to apply:-
After completing
the age of 18 years can apply for the Licence.
On
answering the questions the licensing authority will issue the Learners Licence
in form 3. All the above process will be
completed in a week.
d)
How much time
needed:-
After
scrutinizing the application form the Learners Licence test will be conducted
and on passing the test the learners Licence in form 3 will be prepared. All the above process will be completed
within a week.
Issue of
Driving Licence and Renewal of Driving Licence.
a)
How to apply:-
Application for
a Driving Licence shall be made in form 4 and shall be accompanied by:-
i)
An effective Learners Licence to drive the vehicle of
the type to which the application relates.
ii)
Appropriate fees specified in Rule 32 for the Test of
competence to drive and issue Licence.
iii)
Three copies of the applicant’s recent passport size
photographs.
iv)
A driving certificate in form 5 issued by the School on
establishment from where the applicant received instructions if any.
b)
How to get
Driving Licence:-
On receipt of
the applications as specified above, the Licensing authority will issue a test
orders to the applicant to appear for the driving Licence test order to the
applicant to appear for the driving Licence test. The driving test is in three parts i.e. (1)
Ground test (2) Road test and (3) Oral
test. The candidate who have applied for
the Driving Licence test should know the following
i)
Adjust the rear view mirror.
ii)
Take suitable precautions before starting the engine.
iii)
Move away safely and smoothly straight ahead of an
angle, while at the same time engaging all gears until the top gear is reached.
iv)
To change to the lower gears quickly from the top gear
when the traffic conditions warrant such change
v)
Change quickly to lower gears when downhill.
vi)
Stop and restart the vehicle on sleep upward incline
making proper use of the hand break on of the throttle and the feet break
vii)
Overtake, allow to overtake meet on cover the path of
other vehicles safely and take an appropriate course of the road with proper
caution giving appropriate signals.
viii)
Give appropriate traffic signals at the appropriate
time, in clear and unmistakable manner by hand or by electrical indicator
fitted to the vehicle.
ix)
Change lanes with proper signals and with due care.
x)
Stop the vehicle in an emergency or otherwise, and in
the latter case, bring it to rest at an appropriate course on the road safely,
giving appropriate signals.
xi)
In the case of vehicle having a reverse gear, driving
the vehicle backwards, reverse it into a limited opening either to the right or
left under control and with reasonable accuracy.
xii)
Cause the vehicle to face in the opposite direction by
means of forward and reverse gears.
xiii)
Take correct and prompt action on the signal given by
traffic signs, traffic lights, traffic controllers, policemen and take
appropriate action on signs given by other road users.
xiv)
Act correctly at pedestrians crossing, which are not
regulated by traffic lights or traffic police, by giving preference to persons
crossing the roads.
xv)
Keep well to left in normal driving.
xvi)
Regulate speed to suit varying road and traffic
conditions.
xvii)
Demonstrate general contract of the vehicle by confident
steering and smooth gear changing and braking as and when necessary.
xviii)
Make proper use of the rear-view mirror before
signaling beginning maneuvering moving, altering the course to overtake,
turning right, and turning left and at junction of the road.
xix)
Make proper use of accelerator, clutch, gears, break,
steering and horn.
xx)
Anticipate the actions of pedestrians, drivers of other
vehicles and cyclists.
xxi)
Take precautions at cross roads and road junctions with
regard to:
(a)
Adjust of speed on approach.
(b)
Proper use of rear view mirror.
(c)
Correct positioning of the vehicle before and after
turning to the right, left.
(d)
Avoidance of cutting right hand corners.
(e)
Looking right, left and right again before crossing or
emerging.
C)
When to apply:-
Shall apply for the test of competence to drive if
he has held learners Licence for a period of atleast 30 days.
c)
How much time is
needed:-
Applicants who have possessed driving test will be
issued the Licence within 7 days on proper acknowledgement.
Renewal of Driving
Licence.
a)
How to apply:-
Application for the renewal of driving Licence
shall be made in form 9 and shall be accompanied by:-
i)
Application cum Declaration as to physical fitness
ii)
Medical certificate
iii)
Four copies of recent passport photographs.
iv)
Appropriate fee specified in Rule 32
b)
How to get
Driving Licence after renewal:-
On receipt of application for renewal of driving
Licence as mentioned above licensing authority will scrutinize the application,
if the application is in order the applicant will be intimated to receive the
Licence after 7 days.
c)
When to apply:-
Provided that in any case where the application for
the renewal of a licence is made more than 30 days after the date of its
expiry, the driving licence shall be renewed with effect from the date of its
renewal.
d)
How much time is
needed:-
If the application is in order the Licence will be
renewed and issued within a week.
