Gandhi National Centre for the Arts invites applications for the post of
Project Coordinator and Project Assistants on contract basis.
The Indira Gandhi National
Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture,
Govt. Of India
is visualized as a Centre encompassing the study of all arts, especially in
their dimension of inter relationship and mutual interdependence. The IGNCA
seeks to place the arts within the context of the natural and human envi
ronment. The fundamental approach of the centre in all its work is
multi-disciplinary and holistic.
The IGNCA requires one Project Coordinator and eight
Project Assistants on contract basis to work in the project ‘Archiving of IGNCA
resource material and collections.’ The Contractual Term will be for one year.
The job responsibility of Project Coordinator and Project Assistants are as
under:-
Project Coordinator (One
position) - This full time position is for coordi nating and participating on
day to day basis in the project; interacting with IGNCA depa rtments and
divisions as necessary. Candidates with Archive, Museum of Library
background and with at least 6-7 years experience are eligible.
The Project Coordinator will
work under the overall guidance of the Project Director.
Qualification and
Experience:
1.M.Phil or Ph.D in
Humanities.
2. Experience in handling of
research projects, leading a team.
3. Experience in
documentation and research in areas related to culture will beconsidered an
asset.
4. Excellent computer
skills.
5. Ability to train and
supervise a team.
6. Experience or exposure to
cataloguing standards for objects, audio visual media, crafts etc.
7. Good communication
skills, leadership abilities.
8. Interest and general
knowledge of traditional arts and crafts, performing arts of India, and
related areas.
Remuneration -Rs.60,000/-
per month.Place of Posting-IGNCA, New
Delhi.

Project Assistants (Eight
Positions)
Qualification and
Experience:-
1. Master Degree or M.Phil
in Humanities or Social Sciences including Museum Studies, Library Science etc.
Specialization in Music and Perf orming Arts, Anthropology, Crafts, Textiles,
Folk and Tribal Arts, Audio - visual media will be an asset.
2.Work experience in memory
institutions like archives, museums,libraries etc. is desirable, proficiency in
using MS office is mandatory. Database creation/Data entry skills will be
considered an asset.
3. Experience/familiarity
with cataloguing standards of museums, libraries and archives is desirable.
Remuneration – Rs.30,000/-
per month.
Period- One year
Place of posting- IGNCA, New Delhi.
Age- Not more than 35 years.
