Admission to Ph.D.  Programme for the Academic Year 2016-2017 

National Institute of Immunology (NII) is an autonomous institution under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. NII is committed to advanced research in
1) Infection and Immunity; 
2) Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology; 
3) Chemical, Structural and Computational Biology; 
4) Reproduction and Development.

Academic qualifications required for admission to the NII Ph.D. Programme are: M.Sc. in any branch of science, M.Tech., MBBS., M.V.Sc., M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification as per the norms of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. A minimum of 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) and in both Bachelor's and Master's Degree is essential. Reservations for OBC, PH and SC/ST as per statutory norms and due relaxations in aggregate score for SC/ST candidates are applicable. Applications from candidates who have completed or are likely to complete the required courses in the current academic year will be accepted.

Nil will select candidates for the Ph.D. programme through the following CHANNELS: 

1. Entrance Examination conducted by Nil at New Delhi, Kolkata, Pune /I Hyderabad on February 21, 2016 (Sunday). 

2. Joint Graduate Entrance Examination in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS; December 2015). The candidates applying through JGEEBILS- 2015 will also have to submit a separate application along with application fee to Nil, New Delhi, indicating their JGEEBILS hall ticket number. 

 

A candidate must qualify at least one of the two examinations mentioned above. Candidates will be short-listed for an interview based on their scores in the NII Entrance examinations (February 2016) or in JGEEBILS (December 2015). Selected candidates will be enrolled for Ph.D program affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
