The applicants required 18 years old age to get the driving licence in Bihar through the transport department. Also the citizen who is already having learner’s license and has the age proof of 20 years old is eligible to get the transport / commercial driving license to drive heavy / passenger / goods vehicles. The applicant must be having good knowledge of all the traffic rules before going to apply for it.

For Private Licence:

For Commercial Licence:

Challan clearance report from Traffic Police (in case of Commercial licence renewal).

For duplicate licence you have to approach the issuing authority and the particulars will be verified from their records. The validity of duplicate licence will be the same of your previous licence. The original issuing authority will issue your duplicate licence.
If your licence is lost and expired by more than 6 months your case requires permission from Head Quarter of Transport Department.

LEARNER'S LICENCE:

A Learner's Licence (LL) is valid for a period of 6 months. Driving Licence (DL) should be applied 30 days after after issue of LL and before the end of validity.

LEARNERS LICENSE:-

On submission of the application you will be required to undergo a computer based Learner’s test. Your knowledge on Road Rules and Regulations, Signals and signs, Road manners, defensive driving etc will be tested.
                                            
Facility for practicing the test is provided in this site; and also in the Information kiosk in the office.
                                           
A Learner’s License, valid for six months and valid throughout India, will be issued to you on passing the test. If you fail in the test you can reappear for re-test on any of the coming working days on paying fee of Rs.30/-

Form1 –    If you are below 50 years and applying for non-transport driving license, use this form for self declaration of physical conditions.

Form1A-   If you are 50years or more and applying for non-transport driving license, or you are applying for a transport vehicle driving license, you should obtain a certificate from a general medical practitioner about    your physical condition Form1A.

RENEWAL OF DRIVING LICENSE:-

An application for renewal shall be entertained not more than one month before the date of expiry of the license. If the application is late for more than five years after the date of expiry of the license, the applicant should undergo all the formalities to obtain a fresh license. If the application for renewal is made previous to, or not more than 30 days after the date of expiry of the license, the renewal will be made with effect from the date of its expiry. If the application is made more than 30 days after the date of expiry of the license, the renewal will be made with effect from the date of receipt of proper application. In such cases a fee of Rs. 250/- + Rs.50/-will be realised.

 INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE:-
International Driving Permit will be issued to an applicant who holds a valid Indian License and who is a resident of India. The application shall be made in Form IDP or in writing to the RTO within whose jurisdiction the applicant resides, specifying the countries to be visited and the duration of stay etc. Requirements1.
